What this medicine is for

Rizatriptan 10mg Tablets are used for the acute treatment of migraine attacks in adults.

The active ingredient, rizatriptan benzoate, belongs to a group of medicines called triptans, which are used to treat migraine headaches with or without aura.

Rizatriptan is not intended for the prevention of migraines or for the treatment of cluster headaches.

How it works

Rizatriptan works by targeting serotonin (5-HT1) receptors in the brain.

This helps to constrict widened blood vessels and reduce inflammation thought to contribute to migraine pain. As a result, it helps relieve symptoms such as headache, nausea, and sensitivity to light and sound during a migraine attack.

It is most effective when taken early at the onset of symptoms.
