What this medicine is for

Almotriptan 12.5mg Tablets are used for the acute treatment of migraine headaches in adults.

They are prescribed for patients with a confirmed diagnosis of migraine to help relieve symptoms such as moderate to severe headache, nausea, and sensitivity to light and sound.

Almotriptan is not intended for the prevention of migraines or treatment of cluster headaches.

How it works

Almotriptan malate belongs to a group of medicines called triptans.

It works by narrowing dilated blood vessels in the brain and blocking pain pathways involved in migraine attacks. This helps reduce headache intensity and associated symptoms.

It is most effective when taken early at the onset of a migraine attack.
