Description
What this medicine is for
Utovlan 5mg Tablets contain norethisterone, a synthetic hormone similar to progesterone.
It is commonly prescribed to delay a menstrual period for personal, travel, professional, or special occasions. It may also be used in the management of certain menstrual disorders such as heavy or irregular periods, endometriosis, and premenstrual syndrome (PMS), when prescribed by a healthcare professional.
How it works
Norethisterone works by mimicking the hormone progesterone.
It helps maintain the lining of the womb (endometrium), preventing it from shedding. This temporarily delays menstruation. Once treatment is stopped, hormone levels fall and a period typically occurs within 2–3 days.
