Description
What this medicine is for
Bactroban 2% Cream and Bactroban 2% Ointment contain mupirocin, a topical antibiotic used to treat localized bacterial skin infections.
They are commonly used for conditions such as impetigo, infected minor wounds, cuts, abrasions, and folliculitis caused by susceptible bacteria including Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus species.
Bactroban is intended for short-term use under medical supervision.
How it works
Mupirocin works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, preventing bacteria from growing and multiplying.
This helps clear localized skin infections by eliminating the bacteria responsible at the site of infection.
