Description

Permethrin 5% Cream is a fast-acting topical treatment used to eliminate scabies infestations and crab lice (pubic lice). Permethrin is a synthetic pyrethroid that paralyzes and kills mites, lice, and their eggs by disrupting their nervous system.

Scabies is a contagious skin condition caused by Sarcoptes scabiei mites that burrow into the skin, causing intense itching and a rash. Pubic lice, commonly referred to as crab lice, infest the coarse hair of the pubic region.

 Used to Treat:

• Scabies

• Pubic lice (crab lice)

• Sometimes used off-label for head lice

 How to Use:

For Scabies:

1. Apply a thin layer over the entire body from neck to toes (including under fingernails and soles of feet).

2. For infants, apply to the scalp, face, and ears as well (avoiding eyes and mouth).

3. Leave on for 8–12 hours (typically overnight), then wash off.

4. A second application may be required after 7 days if infestation persists.

For Pubic Lice:

1. Apply cream to the affected area and surrounding skin.

2. Leave on for 12 hours, then wash thoroughly.

3. Remove lice and nits with a fine-toothed comb if needed.

 Warnings & Precautions:

• For external use only

• Avoid contact with eyes, nose, mouth, and mucous membranes

• May cause mild burning, itching, or redness

• Do not use on broken or inflamed skin

• Safe for children over 2 months – consult doctor for infants

• Consult a doctor if pregnant or breastfeeding
