Description
Levonelle Emergency Contraceptive Pill contains 1.5mg of levonorgestrel, a synthetic hormone used to prevent pregnancy after unprotected intercourse or contraceptive failure (e.g., condom breakage or missed pills).
Most effective when taken within 12 hours and up to 72 hours (3 days) after unprotected sex, Levonelle works primarily by preventing or delaying ovulation. It may also prevent fertilisation or implantation, but it does not terminate an existing pregnancy.
This pill is for emergency use only and is not intended as a regular form of contraception. The sooner Levonelle is taken, the higher its effectiveness.
